Here we are again as another year draws to a close. Gosh it does seem like two minues ago I was writing a Merry Christmas message for last year. I promise I am going to make it my New Years resolution to blog that bit more next year.

Love it or hate it there is no denying that few TV programs have had the same sort of impact that Towie has had in such a short space of time. Nothing in the last 10 years of television with the exception of Big Brother has influenced teenagers to the extent of Towie.
A real life soap opera which contains fake tan, fake boobs and catchphrases such as “Well Jel”, “Look Reem” and “So Jel” follows a cast of characters as they go about the totally Essex lives. A hybrid between soap opera, observational documentary and a reality tv show it drops real people in to structured situations whilst we avidly watch the ensuming mayhem. The resulting storylines create drama like you have never seen it before.

Exciting news for those of you that have children that are fans of The Octonauts. We can now reveal that Cottonshack are going to be stocking the fantastic new range of Octonauts duvet covers and bedding accessories. Whilst we do not have a confirmed date yet we can tell you that the first delivery of duvet covers is likely to be around the end of October / very early November. Just in time for Christmas!! The childrens TV series, produced by Chorion for Cbeebies is based on the children’s books written by Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy of Meomi Design Inc. and follows the adventures of The Octonauts, a team of eight anthropomorphic animals that live in the Octopod under the sea.
A Huge Success
The Octonauts has so far been made in to 51 episodes for TV and uses state of the art CGI animation. It is reported to be the number one show watched on Cbeebies online and since airing on UK television in Oct 2010 it has gone on to be shown in France, Spain, Brazil and Australia. JLS “Eyes Wide Open” Movie
Well I suppose for you JLS fans 3rd June will go down in history as the date the new JLS movie “Eyes Wide Open 3D” opened in the UK. Well for us here that date will go down in history as the day we released the new JLS duvet “Outta this World” to coincide with the film release.
It probably won’t surprise any of you to know the JLS was by far our best seller in the lead up to Christmas and is still going strong now. So strong that we actually can’t wait for this new design as we think sales will also be outta this world. So the days, weeks and months are rolling on quicker than ever and Summer is well and truly on it’s way and as the adults have one eye on their well earned Summer holiday, the kid’s I suspect might just have one eye on the next big thing “Everything’s Rosie”.
Rosie and all her friends are positive and inspiring characters that encounter a new everyday challenge in each new episode. The overall design of each episode is bold and graphically superb using cutting edge design and technology. The series itself has proved such a success on Cbeebies that it has now been sold to Ireland, Canada, Finland, Crotia, Estonia and Cyprus with France, Italy and Germany soon to follow.

In each episode Rosie is joined by a variety of friends these include: Blubird, Oakley, Big bear, Holly Will and her very best friend Raggles and each character helps her in some way as she tries to resolve the everyday challenges that come her way.

Comic Book Heaven 
As a child growing up in the now slowly dimming, not so distant past – well lets just , if I dare call it the late 70′s - I absolutely couldn’t wait for the last Friday of every month. This was because we suddenly had a new kid on the block. A new breed of comic book. Comic books all the way from the other side of the Atlantic full of strange beings, aliens from distant planets, brave rugged superheroes that always seemed to get the girl and boy were they so grown up. I was hooked immediatelyand out went The Beano forever!!! Spiderman was my ultimate favourite but I fondly remember heroes such as Daredevil, Wolverine, The Green Lantern and many others. My poor old Mother would tell you I positively ate and drank Superheroes and as I got older I never really forgot the adventures I had with Peter Parker, Mary Jane and the others.
A New Breed of Hero The comic books might not be the same these days and ten times more expensive than I remember but the kids today have got a whole new breed of hero, one that I could only have mouth wateringly imagined. Film technology is such today that no stunt or special effect is impossible, making movies the ideal carrion for the Superhero. Since Toby Mcguires Spiderman in 2002 the age of the Big Screen Superhero has well and truly begun. We’ve had Spiderman 1,2 & 3, Daredevil, The Fantastic Four and the various X -Men movies and it would seem 2011/2012 is going to be no different with two more Marvel characters getting the big screen adaptation. Not only that but Marvel have gone back to the drawing board with their biggest earner and are giving Spiderman a reboot.
As always Cottonshack try very hard to bring our customers the latest in designs and bedroom fashions and I’ll be honest, the one thing I would have loved back then would have been a duvet cover with my favourite Superhero on it. Unfortunately back then Character duvets were still in the distant future. Well not any more because to tie in with the film releases this year Cottonshack are going to be stocking a new range of Superhero bedding so that your little hero can go that one step further than I did all those years ago and actually eat,drink and SLEEP Superheroes.

Captain America starring Chris Evans, Hugo (The Matrix) Weaving and Tommy Lee Jones gets its UK film release on 29/7/2011. The evidence suggests that good old “Cap” is set to be a summer blockbuster We think the duvet looks brilliant.

The second big character is the fantastic Norse god like Thor, not one that I was too familiar with growing up, I’ll be honest but with Sir Anthony Hopkins as Thor’s father the mighty Odin, this too looks like its going to be a blast. And so as the Marvel “Movie” Universe continues to grow bed times have never been as good.

Just where did July go? We were so busy last month that I’ve only just realised I didn’t actually blog anything. So with that in mind I thought I’d better get on it early this month before it gets really mad!
